Quick St. Patrick's Day Peppermint Brownies

It's AH's (Awesome Husband's) birthday today.
I took 2 of his favorite treats and combined them.  Brownies + Peppermint Patties
The result:  Peppermint Pattie Brownies!
There's a peppermint pattie inside and a peppermint pattie on top!
You won't believe how quick and easy this is!

Of course I had to add a little St. Patrick's Day shamrock for pizazz...
You don't have to do that, unless you want!

Three simple ingredients...brownie mix, peppermint patties, candy melts.
I use white candy melts and add the color that I need.

Stir up your brownie mix and spread it in a greased pan.
Arrange unwrapped (of course) peppermint patties on top of the batter.
4 across and 5 down worked nicely in a 9 x 13 pan.
Using a spoon, dunk the patties down into the batter.
Spoon batter on top of the patties so they are hidden.

Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes.

Once brownies have baked and cooled for about 20 minutes.
Place a York Peppermint Pattie on top of the brownies in the same pattern as before.

Allow brownies to cool another 20 minutes or so.

Meanwhile, melt the candy melts in the microwave.
Stir and add green coloring.

Print out a shamrock shape onto computer paper.
I found a shape online and copied it so I had 12 shamrocks on a page.
Place a sheet of waxed paper on top of your paper copy.
Pour the green candy melt mixture into a squeeze bottle, and start tracing the pattern.
It doesn't have to be perfect (thank goodness!).

I did a page of outlines first, then went back and filled in each shamrock.
They looked so pretty!
Be sure to let them dry before you handle them.
When dry, carefully peel them off the waxed paper.
The bottom side of the candy shapes are smooth and flat,
but I really liked the look of the strokes on the front...so that's the side I used.

Using a sharp knife, make a slit in the top of each pattie.
Insert a candy shamrock in each slit.

And there you have it!
Pure heaven...well at least AH thinks so!
Happy Birthday, Honey.
