Office Supplies Turkey!

A 'Dollar Days' sale at  Staples Office Supply store, sparked major turkey creativity this week!

Did you know you can make a turkey out of paper clips, rubberbands and post-it flags?
With help from my kids, we whipped up these cute little 'office supply' turkeys for their teachers.

This is defintely a change up from those 'food and candy' teacher gifts.
However, next to gift cards, coffee cards and food,
office supplies rank right up there for a teacher!

 Here's the supplies we used.

Step 1:  Tape (2) yellow paper clips to the top of the container lid.
These are the turkey's feet.  Flip lid upside down for the container to sit on top of.

Step 2:  Load paper clips and rubberbands into the container.  Put the rubberbands on top.

Step 3:  Open (2) packages of paper flags.
One package we cut to fit inside the container.
The other package we cut each flag pack apart.

Step 4:  Stick in the paper flag packs in between the rubberbands.
These are the feathers.

Step 5:  Using strong craft Glue Dots (I love these things!),
stick one on the back of the mini binder clip
and the two wiggly eyes.

Step 6:  Stick on the clip (beak and waddle) to the center of the container.
Stick the eyes right above the clip.

Step 7:  Use scrapbook paper and letter stickers to make a card for the teacher.
We used orange mechanical pencils to hold up the card.

Step 8:  Write a 'thankful' note inside the card.

Step 9:  Stick card into the clip of the pencil.
Stick pencil in the back of the container.

Step 10:  Place in a cellophane bag and staple on a bow.

If you want to make it 'more' of a gift...
Add an orange notebook or folders.
or
Add a Staples gift card.
or
Make it on a bigger scale...use a bigger container, use boxes of pencils for feathers,
use entire packages of paperclips, rubberbands, post-its, etc.
Endless possibilities!

So thankful for teachers!
