Love Letter Cookies and Parcel

I've got a special delivery for you today.
I've baked up some envelope sugar cookies.

I used my favorite sugar cookies recipe--click here.
I didn't have a rectangle cookie cutter so I just used a knife
and cut my sugar dough into rectangles.

(Don't look too close, some of my rectangles are a bit off, Geometry was never my gift!)

I cut little hearts out of my cookies,

(I used a mini cookie cutter for these, my cutting skills aren't that great either.)

but next time I'll leave the envelopes solid
and cut the hearts out of extra dough.
They're much easier to just stick on top of a solid cookie, than a cookie with a hole cutout.

 After baking,
I frosted the cookies with this
royal icing recipe from Pink Patisserie.

While you're over looking at my friend's baking blog, you must take some time to see her
amazing love letter cookies--click here.
She's extremely talented!

Me?... Well, I'll just stick with what I'm good at...
quick and cute.

(Here's a sneak peek at our Valentine's table.)
To package up some of these envelope cookies,
I made this little printable.

I printed them out on brown paper cardstock.
and folded in half.
On a sewing machine, I stitched the top, left side
and bottom of the envelope together.
(Don't forget to leave the right side open.)

I used a zig-zag stitch and red thread.

I slid the cookie in a cellophane wrapper,

then placed the cookie inside the paper envelope.
I hole punched through both the top and bottom
of the envelope.
And of course, added a ribbon to secure.

 There you have it.
