Welcome!
I surprised myself this year, since I usually stay away from the color yellow. It's never been my favorite color to decorate with--however, after bringing this bright and cheery color into my home, I'm now thinking that yellow IS my color...at least for a little while.
There's something amazing about the way the color yellow reacts when placed with black and white plaid. I think it's growing on me.
Take a look at these lemon plate options on Amazon.

Glass cylinder vases (I bought a box of 12 at the Dollar Tree years ago.) were filled with grocery store yellow and white flowers. The black and white checked tablecloth is wipe-able and disposable, perfect for our party.
My old Crate & Barrel dining tables allow for 18 guests, when they're extended all the way and put end to end.

18 guests attending our Mother's Day celebration, meant that not every place setting would have a rustic charger (I only own 12) or would they all have this gold silverware that I adore. I had to use some of my plastic gold chargers and regular silverware, and I thought it looked OK. I even ran out of lemon paper plates, so I had to use a few yellow plaid ones. The best thing about a large mix and match table...is the freedom to mix and match-- not every setting is supposed to be identical. I have to admit, that concept is a little hard for someone like me. Faux lemons and faux vines (found at JoAnns) with 2" wide yellow ribbon, lined the center of the tables. Real sliced lemons were placed on the edge of every drinking glass. A mini yellow cupcake liner filled with these glorious Sconza Yellow Lemoncello Chocolate Almonds were next to each glass.

In my opinion, it's much easier to have a double buffet line when you have more than 12 guests. We lined up the same food on each side of the kitchen island, to have 2 lines of guests getting food at once. They serve themselves using glass plates. I use glass plates at every party. They're so easy to clean and they look fabulous. Our menu included: lemon marinated grilled chicken, lemon shrimp, raw veggies, fruit salad, croissants and green salad. And of course, lemonade.

To add to the theme, I hung yellow paper lanterns in different heights with yellow curling ribbon.Using lots of yellow candies and sweets, I assembled this yellow themed dessert board.
My sister-in law made lemon bars and cookies.
And I made lemon shaped sugar cookies.
I hung a black and white shower curtain on the wall and made a balloon garland with about 20 yellow balloons.
