A Cardinals Baseball Tree

A little baseball history...
My AH (awesome husband) LOVES baseball!
We live in a suburb outside of Seattle, so naturally he loves the Mariners...
Yes, even when they are NOT doing so well!

Every December I put up a Mariners baseball tree full of blue and silver colored
Mariners' ornaments, hats and lights!
This year is a bit different...

You see, AH also loves the St. Louis Cardinals.
The love started many years ago when he was a little leaguer and played for the Cardinals.
Ever since then, he's been a huge MLB Cardinals fan.
Yes, even I have attended a few St. Louis Cardinals games.
(In appropriate jersey wear, I might add.)

Back to the story...
When a friend of a friend of a friend (seriously) gave AH a ticket to attend a
St. Louis Cardinals World Series Game this past October,
he jumped on the first flight!

When the Cardinals actually WON the World Series,
I knew that I couldn't put up our standard Mariners blue and silver Christmas tree this year.

Here it is,
Our Cardinals Baseball Tree!

Yes, (in case you're wondering) we do have a TV viewing room dedicated to all things baseball.
(Maybe after the holidays I'll give you the full tour?)

Red ribbon and lots of baseballs grace the tree.
(Can you spot the Mark McGwire ornament?)

I made the baseball garland from baseball shaped, Easter eggs leftover from this post.

I searched the house for all the Cardinals hats we own and stuck them in the tree.

I gathered up a few gloves and stuck them in too!

I even found some Cardinals figurines from AH's childhood and tied them on.

Look what else I found in AH's stash...

an old Cardinals antenna ball!
(You didn't believe me when I said he's a HUGE fan?!)

A fellow baseball lover gave AH this cardinal ornament in honor of the World Series win.
(He also subtly mentioned that he wants to go to the World Series with AH next time!)

Under the tree I put baseball pillows borrowed from my son's room.

And guess what I found just the other day!

Clip on cardinals!

I'll leave you with AH's parting words...
"Only 3 months until Spring Training!"

***Updated 2013
The Cardinals made it to the World Series again this year...
so did AH and his brother!

The red birds are back on the tree.
Sorry, Mariners...Maybe next year?

  5. I love that you put up all these different trees, such great memories - I think we would have a New Orleans Saints tree, a Toronto Maple leafs tree, and a Seattle Seahawks tree (my 6 yr old - despite the rest of us being Saints fans - loves them even requested a full uniform for Christmas).

  9. You are a sweet wife to dedicate an entire tree to your husband's love. We are huge Cardinal fans and wasn't that an amazing series? My son has been mourning the Pujos trade. You have a Merry Christmas!

  11. This is such a clever idea! My dad's favorite sports is baseball so this would really be perfect for him this year. The ornaments you used are pretty cool. I'd love to include this to my Christmas tree decorating ideas collection if you'd let me.

    Cheers!
