An Old 'Washed Up' Beach Sign

Remember when I found this old, worn-out sign washed up on the beach?  Click here.
It was super heavy with old nails sticking out.  I loved it!
My family looked at me like I was crazy!

Well, crazy or not...
I 're-made' my sign in 10 steps!
Want to see?

Step 1:  Clean it up!
Wash, scrub, dry and a bit of sanding.
I left the nails in...I think it adds character.

Step 2:  A couple coats of white spray paint.

Step 3:  Vinyl letters!
I used my Cricut and cut out the arrow and letters.
(The sign actually looks pretty good right now, but I'm not done!)

Step 4:  A couple coats of blue paint leftover from my daughter's bedroom.

Step 5:  Brushed on black paint, rubbed off with a rag.
(Loving the texture!)

Step 6:  Another light sanding...to bring back some of the white.

Step 7:  Peel off the vinyl letters.
(My favorite part!)

Step 8:  Touch ups!
Using a tiny brush, fix any spots where the blue paint bled through.
(To use the spray paint color, just spray a bit of spray paint in the top of the cap.
Use a tiny, square-edged paint brush to fix those blue spots.)

Step 9:  Apply a coat of sealer over the entire sign.

Step 10:  Add some rope, of course!
I wrapped rope around the tip of the sign and the base.
More texture...gotta love it!

Ta-Da!
(My family said that my sign was a little too obvious.)
Yeah, maybe.

I guess I'll try to find another location where it can be more useful?
There!  Does that work better?
