Some GREEN for your day!

Printables for St. Patrick's Day

Here's a cute little printable to add some festive green color to someone's St. Patrick's Day.  Everyone needs a little green in their life, especially on St. Patrick's Day!

St. Patrick's Day Printables

Just print out these tags, trim and attach to any green treat.

You know my trick for scoring inexpensive green M&M's right?
Buy the red and green candies on Christmas clearance in January. Sort the colors.  Save the red M&M's for Valentine treats and the green ones for St. Patrick's Day.  (Store M&M's in ziplocs in the pantry for up to 12 months.)

I'm totally a M&M's fan, but if you have healthy friends- tie this tag onto a green drink, green fruit or a prepackaged salad.

Need a cute little St. Patrick's Day treat to hand deliver? Nothing says St. Patrick's Day like a little leprechaun and some gold coins.

I 'transformed' these E. L. Fudge Cookies from elves to leprechauns.  It didn't take much.
A little icing, green sprinkles and these shamrock sugars.
I found my candy sprinkles at Michaels, but here is another option you could use.
Wilton Shamrock Sprinkle Mix.

To make a quick icing, use 1/2 cup powdered sugar and mix in a Tablespoon of water.  Add a teaspoon of water at a time until a nice frosting comes together. Frost the hat and the feet and add sprinkles.  Use a dot of icing to secure a shamrock on the chest.

I used these Clear Party Bags to package up the treats along with some  Chocolate Gold Coins.

Click here to print your own tags.  Cut and place a tag into each clear bag.  Add a few chocolate coins and a leprechaun cookie.

Fold over the excess bag and secure with some green washi tape.  I happened to have some shamrock tape in my stash.  I buy most of my washi tape from www.pickyourplum.com.

Leprechaun Treats

Wednesday

Need to spread a little St. Patrick's Day cheer?  It doesn't take much to be a leprechaun!

Just print out a simple tag and attach it to a green treat.
Easy.  Festive.  Fun!

I like using these clear Pretzel Party Bags for little candies
.  (They make the candies appear to be more than they really are.  Shh! Don't tell anyone.)  Put some green candies like these Andes mintsAndes Creme De Menthe Thins, 120 Count Thins in the bags.

Tie the bag with green curling ribbon and attach a tag.
Trim off the excess bag with scissors.

Instead of cellophane bags, you could use these Mini White Favor Pails from the Dollar Store (wedding section).  They are my favorite and I end up using them for so many things.

Don't want to use your printer to make tags?
Make these tags with letter stickers, instead.
Check out this old post--look how young the kids were!

Monday

It's St. Patrick's Day! Got your green on? I do!

We had a St. Patrick's Day Birthday last night for AH (Awesome Husband).
Good thing he likes the color green!
It's pretty fun celebrating a birthday the day before St. Patrick's Day.

The table was set in green and gold.
You have to have chocolate gold coins when celebrating St. Patrick's Day!
(Well, at least at our house you do!)

I had the kids make signs for the occasion.
I like to slip them in frames so they look like a piece of art.

Our menu was AH's favorite meal: Khalbi Ribs and Homemade Macaroni and Cheese.
However, I did add lots of green foods.
Green salad and green broccoli (as you can imagine, those were very much appreciated.)
I had some fun green foods, too!
{I really need to work on making vegetables fun.}

The 'fun' green foods included:  Grape and kiwi skewers--easy and festive!

Lime jello cups.
To see how I made the shamrock toppers, click here.

Shamrock Juice with apple slice.

I got the Shamrock Juice recipe here.
I modified mine a bit, (took out the pineapple juice) but it was sure tasty!
How fun are the apple shamrock slices?!
(Thin slices of apple cut out with a shamrock cookie cutter.)

And of course, birthday cake!
(So, it doesn't qualify as a green food, but it was definitely fun!)

Double layer, yellow cake with chocolate buttercream frosting, garnished with Andes mints...

Simply unwrap Andes mints, cut into various triangle pieces and stick into the chocolate frosting.
Quick, easy and a showstopper!
Serve alongside a scoop of Thin Mint ice cream.
(Yes, AH loves me!)

Last night after the party, AH asked if cake freezes...
Apparently he wants to extend the goodness with a piece in his lunch every day.
Why does he think there will be leftover cake after the week-end?

Happy Birthday, Honey.
(I did ask my daughter to smile...life with a tween.)

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
