Pretzel Bar Pun Party for Father's Day

It's a Pretzel Party and this one is for the dads- Happy Father's Day. Yep. Big, soft pretzels and lots of puns. What dad wouldn't want this kind of celebration?
This theme works for any type of party however, dads seem to love pretzels the most. If you're a beer drinking family, add beer to your pretzel menu, if not, no worries. We had lemonade and loved it.

The trick to making this fast and simple is to use the store-bought Auntie Anne's frozen pretzels found at any grocery store. They only take a few minutes to heat up and they're delicious.

I made 4 different pretzel toppings available: butter, cheese, hot mustard and cinnamon & sugar. 
I kept these toppings warm using my (aff. link) butter warmers. I added bigger ceramic dishes to the top of the tea-lighted racks. It worked perfectly.

Printed labels helped identify each topping. The big surprise of the party was that almost everyone wanted butter with cinnamon and sugar on their pretzel. Guess I didn't need so many toppings?

I printed off lots of pretzel puns and displayed them inside (aff. link) clear plastic display frames. Naturally, some were better than others.

I made a few dessert pretzel recipes to go with the party. I'm sure you've tried these Rolo Pretzel Bites, haven't you? And what about this Chocolate Caramel Pretzel Bark? Both are delicious!

I made a simple Father's Day pennant banner using the slick (aff. link) Banner Punch Board and my (aff. link) Cricut machine to cut the letters. These tools make banner making fast!

Table decor included these fun candy dishes with pretzels and Tootsie Rolls. My son made these pretzel balloons.

Can you believe that you can make pretzels from a warmed up Tootsie Roll? It's true! Unwrap, then warm them up in the microwave for 10-12 seconds and mold them into a pretzel shape. Add white sprinkles to look like salt.

I also added a fun activity to the table with cups of mini marshmallows and pretzel sticks. Each guest was challenged to build something with their supplies.

The dads did pretty well with this challenge. 

We finished off our party with a little photo shoot.
I used one blue tablecloth hung on a wall and decorated it with streamers and ribbons. Props were big glasses and balloons.

Baseball Party Foods

If you've followed my blog for some time, you know that I've put on quite a few baseball themed parties.  AH (Awesome Husband) can't get enough of the sport and it's always his party theme of choice.  It's starting to get harder and harder to come up with new baseball party ideas, but never fear---I've chalked up another one.

It's a clever baseball party with lots of baseball food ideas.
And of course, the Seattle Mariners gear makes an appearance in every one of my baseball parties!  Go M's!

Let's start with the cards, not baseball cards, but Father's day cards. This party was for Father's Day, so we put all the handmade cards for dad in a glove and labeled it 'Card Catcher'.  (A catcher's glove would have been even more perfect, but we don't have one of those!)

Next up, the refreshments...2 pitchers with their appropriate labels. The starting pitcher, filled with water.  The relief pitcher, filled with lemonade.

Onto the snacks.  Every baseball party has to have Cracker Jacks. Baseball, Cracker Jacks-- they just go together.

Another great baseball food...pickles?! (You know what this is, right?)

And don't forget about the chips and salsa.  I gathered 4 levels of salsa to try out.
1st base- mild salsa
2nd base- medium or hot salsa
3rd base- very hot salsa
Home- 5 alarm salsa!

It was fun to see how far we could go around the bases with our salsa eating.  I made a 'pitcher's mound' with the blue chips in the middle.

Another chip dipping option was a corn salsa...because of the baseball term, can of corn.  (That's what they call a pop up--just in case you're not baseball fan.)

Salami roll ups were a fun and easy snack, made even more festive with the baseball picks.

Of course we served sliders for the meal.  Choose between a single, double or triple!

To go with the sliders, you'll need a suicide squeeze...or two!

Best candy to serve...Mounds bars!

The perfect cake to serve at a baseball party is a bundt (bunt) cake.  I made a simple chocolate/chocolate chip cake in a bundt pan and splattered it with icing.

Finish off the meal with a spitball.  (Extra large gumballs).

Wrapping paper hung with large baseball cutouts made a fun backdrop for the food and the photo shoot.  Just move the food table out of the way and snap a few pictures.

8 Great Father's Day Party Ideas

Father's Day is such a fun time to celebrate the men in your life.
Dads, Grandpas and Uncles always appreciate a party in their honor. What better way to celebrate than with some fun foods, treats and puns? I've pulled together 8 Father's Day party theme ideas from the blog.  Take a look.  Maybe you'll find the perfect idea to celebrate Dad this year?

1.  FISHING
Fishing is a great theme to celebrate dad.  You'll love the 'fish' related menu and so will the kids.  Dad will especially 'groan' at all those fish tale puns and who doesn't enjoy a fun photo booth?

2. PIZZA

This was actually a birthday party for my brother, but could easily be adapted to a Father's Day Donut Party.  If Dad is a donut lover, this is the party theme for you!  The donut tree is surprisingly easy to pull off!

5. BASEBALL
Baseball is always the favorite party theme in our house.  Lots of great baseball treats including the ever popular home plate cupcakes.  Mmm!

6. BASKETBALL
Got Game?  This is the perfect dinner party for Dad!  He'll be shooting hoops from his seat and he'll love the puns straight from the game...especially the 'turnovers'?!

7. FOOTBALL
If Dad has never had a football themed party, then this is a must!  Lots of menu planning ideas will help you 'throw' a great celebration in no time! Add a runner of artificial turf to the table and you've got a party!

8. GOLF
This party is Just Fore Dad!  Clever golf puns and sayings match up with yummy brunch foods.  Your golfing dad will love this par-tee! Free printable tags included.  The tee-off cupcakes were a 'hit'!
