Spider and Bat Halloween Party

Black and Orange Halloween Party decorating ideas

Can you believe I have never hosted a Halloween party?
There are over 75 party posts on my blog,
but not one of those is a Halloween party...until now--and boy, did I have fun!(Click here to see my A to Z party list.)

My birthday is a few days before Halloween, so I'm not usually hosting a party for myself.  This year my (out-of-town) folks were in-town watching my brother's kids, so they all came over to celebrate.  It was the perfect occasion to turn my birthday into a Halloween party!  My mother was not impressed. She walked in with a bag of pink princess party stuff to celebrate...including a pin the tiara on Cinderella poster game.  Ooops!
The kids and teens were more than excited to have a spider theme, instead of a Cinderella theme.  No one was interested in pinning 'anything' on a princess. I told my mom I will give her a princess party for her birthday, but she wasn't excited about that idea.  Sorry, mom. It was a great party, though.

A few webs around the room, some orange lights and a big spider, set the theme of the party.  The dangling legs of this spider were so fun.

For the centerpiece, I used lots of orange and black sparkly ball fillers, a large pom spider and a white felt web that were all found at the Dollar Tree. Black cake stands and ribbon were found at Michaels.  Old web table runner is from Target.

Each place setting had a plastic black charger with an unfolded napkin underneath a glass plate.  I love the print of these napkins. (I found these at my local grocery store.)
Tiny pumpkins sat on top of each plate with a plastic spider ring over the stem.

Plastic fangs held the name cards.
Orange Fanta and Sprite combined is the orange drink.  Paper straws sat in the glasses. Bat necklace favors were at each spot as well.

Lots of various toy spiders and bats covered the table, including these spiders made out of condiment cups.

At one point in the meal, my mom got up and shrieked when a felt spider fell on her!  Oops! Sorry mom! (I seem to be apologizing a lot for this party?)
In the dark, it was a bit creepy--even for me! (Affiliate link) Flying bats on the white wall added to the fun.

Besides our meal of jack-o-lantern shaped pizzas and green salad, we had a few clever snacks and birthday cake.

Dad and MOM did try out the plastic fangs!  I wasn't sure if she'd actually touch them?! The kids had to help her figure them out, since she initially put them in her mouth backwards and said they didn't fit her!

And of course we had a photo booth.  It doesn't take much.
1 black silky sheet hung on the wall.
1 black blow up spider
A few Halloween photo booth props.
