Make a Birthday Punch Board

Need a fun idea to give money?
How about giving a gift that's interactive and fun? Why not try a Birthday Punch Box?!
It was a big hit with my nephew. Here's how to do it.

Great gift for any age- a birthday punch board

Here's the supplies needed to make your Birthday Punch Box.
*This post contains affiliate links to help you find products.

-a box
(I used a large shoebox. Any box will work, just make sure your cups can stand up inside the box with the lid closed.)
-paper cups (cups can be any size, plastic cups work, too.)
-wrapping paper
-tissue paper (different colors make it fun.)
-rubberbands
-gifts (candy, money, small toy items, etc.)
-pen, razor blade, X-Acto knife, scissors, tape, marker
-cellophane paper, curling ribbon
(optional)

Arrange paper cups on top of box where you would like them to sit.
Use a pen to trace around each cup. Using a sharp X-Acto knife or razor, cut out each circle INSIDE the pen mark. You want to make the holes a bit smaller than the circles you traced.

You do not need perfect circles!

Next, wrap the entire box with wrapping paper. Yes, wrap over the holes you just cut out!
My box had a hinged lid which made wrapping a bit tricky, but it still worked.
Once wrapped, use your scissors and make a small cut into the paper where each cut out circle is. Push a paper cup in each hole.

Now the fun part! Fill each cup with candy, money, notes, small toys, etc. I didn't realize until later, but you want the cups to be no more than half full...that way you can actually 'punch' into the cup. I found out my nephew likes Starbursts, jellybeans, Skittles and no chocolate!

Take each cup out of the box and cover the top with 2 layers of tissue paper. Use a rubber band to hold the tissue in place. Trim tissue paper edges with scissors and place back in the box.

My nephew was turning 11 years old, so I made him 11 cups and put numbers on them.
Cup 11 had the best prize. I asked my sister-in-law if he opened them in order and she said he did.

I used cellophane to wrap up the entire box so he could see inside it. The gift was delivered the day before his birthday, and he was begging to just punch open one cup. Nope, apparently his mom and dad said he had to wait until his actual birthday! He was pretty excited!

Let me know if you try this idea!
Oh, I forgot to mention, it's reusable. Just refill the cups, add new tissue paper and re-give the box! Yay!

Sparkling Cider Neighbor Gifts

Here's a quick Christmas gift idea for the neighbors that involves no baking, no packaging and no hassle. We have 16 neighbors on our dead end street, so finding something easy and inexpensive is always a plus!

Quick neighbor gifts @michellepaigeblogs.com

I simply purchased bottles of sparkling cider. It's festive, showy and fun. (Be sure to research and find the best price. The best price in my area was at Walmart for $1.97 a piece.)

If you'd like to get a little fancy, tie on a little treat as well.

I tied on one of these (affiliate link) Popcornopolis popcorn cones. I usually make my favorite Candy Coated Popcorn Recipe for the neighbors (see bottom of post), but this year because of Covid, I decided not to hand make anything.

The neighbors loved these! I left them on their doorsteps.

Quick letter ornaments with stickers.

Easy Lettered Ornaments with Stickers
Make these easy ornaments with no fancy cutting machines...just stickers!
Seriously!  You wouldn't believe how easy it is to make custom ornaments for your tree with just a few simple supplies.
Take a look.

Supplies:
-A box of solid colored round ornaments.
(I used glass, but this could easily work on plastic ornaments as well. I bought mine at Michaels 50% off.)

-2-3 packages of letter stickers (Choose narrow letters for best results.
I used this brand.)

-Beacon 3 in 1 Crystal-Clear Craft Glue (affiliate link)
-coordinating ribbon
-ornament hangers (these are my favorite!) (affiliate link)

DIRECTIONS:
Are you ready for the easiest directions I've ever posted?

1) Stick the letter stickers on the ornament and press firmly.

Spell out words like LOVE...

I spelled out:
PEACE, JOY, NOEL, CHRIST, HOPE, MERRY, BLESSED, LOVE.

You could even spell out names for place settings.

2) Once the stickers are firmly pressed onto the ornaments, let them sit for a few hours, then look at them closely. You will notice that certain letters will have edges that have peeled up. This is where the glue comes in.
Using the
Beacon 3 in 1 Crystal-Clear Craft Glue (affiliate link) and a small paint brush, brush on some glue under the raised edges. Press firmly and let dry.

3) Tie on coordinating ribbon, add an ornament hook and hang on your tree. These could be packaged up as a gift set as well.

The simplicity of these ornaments stand out on the tree. They remind us all what we should be focused on this Christmas season.
