Friday

You may have had this amazing popcorn treat before...
White candy coating mixed with popcorn, Fritos and pretzels.
So yummy and addicting, yet this treat doesn't have a name?!

A coworker, years ago introduced me to it...she called it--Snowflake Mix.
A girlfriend of mine calls it-- Chicks and Sticks.
Try to look it up online and people are calling it
They put Kix cereal or even M&M candies in it.

I call it--  Candy Coated Popcorn Mix.
It's what my neighbors look forward to every Christmas.
If I'm not careful, I can eat the entire batch myself--seriously!

Just take a look at this super easy recipe!
(The hardest part is finding a super huge bowl or container to mix this stuff up in.)

Directions:
Pop 2-3 microwave bags of popcorn.  (Be sure to remove all popcorn kernels.)
Stir in 1 bag of Fritos corn chips.
Add in 1-2 cups of pretzel sticks.

Mix well.

Pour 1 pound of melted Vanilla Candy Coating over the popcorn mixture. This is found in most grocery stores  or click here for affiliate link.

Some folks like their popcorn mixture 'drenched' in the white candy...if that is the case, use 2 packages of Vanilla Candy Coating.

I prefer it lightly coated, so I only use one package.

Mix well.
Let cool and dry.

Package up the mix in little bags and deliver to neighbors and friends...
OR
eat it all yourself!

Merry Christmas!

Thursday

We've just returned from an early Christmas celebration with my folks on the other side of the state.
We came home to...
Christmas cards!
Lots of Christmas cards!
I love Christmas cards, photos, letters---the works.

Look how I'm displaying my cards this year.

Remember that old door I found at the Junk Show?

I simply hung red ric rac across the door...

and used itty bitty clothespins to hang the cards.
This is our Christmas Card for 2011.
If you missed the post on this, click here.

I can't wait to see it filled...

Merry Christmas!

Saturday

Our daughter had her 11th birthday last week.
(How did 11 years slip by so fast?!)

Check out the party!

A December birthday requires a tree decked out in the party theme!
Mirrored ornaments, black beads, dotted ribbon, glitter black balls, sparkly stars and...

a tiara for the top!

Take a look at the sparkly headbands for the girls' hair (found at JoAnns)

and matching monogram shirts that I made.

The goodie bags were filled with candy and glitter.

Bowling ball cake pops...

stuck into chocolate cupcakes.

Plates from Hobby Lobby, balloons and crepe paper from Party City, mirrors from Michaels.

Each shirt was placed on a chair, showing the girls where to sit.
Silver scarves were torn (really!) from sparkly material.

Food! (Pizza, of course)
Did you notice that none of the girls have veggies or salad on their plates?

11 candles!

Off to the bowling alley for some fun.

Happy Birthday, Kid!

Friday

Our Moms In Touch Prayer Group meets weekly to pray for our children and their school.
We wanted to give our children's teachers and staff a little treat for Christmas.
We love our kids' school, but no Christmas trees or Christmas decorations are allowed.
(It's a district policy,--isn't that sad?!)

Well, we brainstormed a few ideas and decided to go with a 'nut' theme for our treats.
When we saw this 'acorn donut hole' idea online, we ran with it!

We simply purchased donut holes and dipped an end into melting chocolate.

Then rolled the donuts into the sprinkles and added a pretzel stem.

What fun we had creating these little acorns!

After we ran out of chocolate sprinkles we added a few red and green sprinkles as well.
(It's OK, I don't think the sprinkles counted as a Christmas decoration.)

We also purchased different kinds of nuts to set out in little white dishes.
I made simple tags to label the different kinds of nuts.
One friend brought her children's squirrel and chipmunk animals to add to the decor.

Recognize this tree from my Thanksgiving post? Click here.
I cut acorns out with the Silhouette and we all wrote notes to the teachers
and staff thanking them for their hard work and love they give our children.

I printed out a quick sign, "We're 'NUTS' for our staff!" to add to the table.

Here's the 'Nutty' display we set up in the Teacher's Lounge.
The teachers loved it!

(In fact, one teacher mentioned that we can do that every week if we'd like!)

Wednesday

Here's a 'COOL' gift to give!

Ice Cream Social in a Box.  (Just add the ice cream!)
Here's how we made ours.

Using packing boxes we had around the house,
I wrapped each box with bright red polka dot paper.

I wanted the box to be able to open and close, without needing to rip off the paper...
so, I had to use quite a bit of paper and tape to cover the entire thing--inside and out.

I used my tiny Bagettes (mini ziplocs- found at Michaels in the jewelry section)
to hold the sprinkles.
Bigger ziplocs and cellophane bags were used to hold the other goodies.

I bought lots of different cones on sale at my local grocery store and packaged them up.

Here's all the goodies.

After packing everything in our wrapped boxes,
we placed a $10. Baskin Robbins gift certificate on top.

I punched a hole in the top flaps of the box and threaded ribbon through.
A double knot held it secure.

I tied the ribbon into a bow and added a tag.

How cute is this for the 'Sundae' School Teacher?  (Get it?)

And here's one for my son's 4th grade teacher.

Don't you just love a gift that can be enjoyed by the entire family?
Hope you find time for an ice cream social this Christmas!
